Sinpo Chicken Gangjeong

Sinpo Chicken Gangjeong (신포닭강정)
By Aaron Park

I've been talking about Seoul all the time. However, this time I want to say somewhere I didn't mention. 'Sinpo Chicken Gangjeong' is the most famous eatery in the Sinpo bazar, traditional market. Sinpo bazar is located in In-Cheon. So If you want to see the Korean traditional market, this would be a very good chance to see.

Maybe you have a curiosity about the 'Gangjeong'. What is the Gangjeong?

Gangjeong is a traditional confectionery of various shapes and sizes. It is made of sticky rice, honey, and oil. It has a long history of being used in wedding feasts and rituals.
(A definition from here)

Anyway, Chicken Gangjeong is look like this

First, they made the fried chicken just like usual chicken restaurant. However, it is just beginning of chicken gangjeong. In the fried chicken, the cooks poured hot spicy sauce. In the sauce, there are many honey or starch syrup, hot chilies, chili oil etc. At last, they sprinkled peanuts.

Some honey and starch syrup make this food so shiny and peanuts make me feel some nutty taste. Anyway the taste is so awesome.

The only problem is that you have to wait very long time. I've been 3 times in this place. However, I had to wait at least 40 minutes because many people wanted to buy this food.
If you come this place, you will see many people line the route near this restaurant. So If you are busy, I recommend you to eat another dishes near here.
